Signature Metals Ltd is an Australian gold mining company. Its flagship operation is Owere Mines, of which it owns 70%. Owere holds 100% of the Konongo Gold Project which has 192 km2 of contiguous concessions in Ghana's renowned Ashanti Gold Belt. The project contains 16 known old deposits along 12 kilometers of strike. JORC-compliant resources total 1.47 million ounces of gold in the indicated and inferred categories based on 23.4 million tonnes of ore at a grade of 1.95 grams per tonne. Over 1.6 million ounces of gold has been produced in the past at a head grade of 11.8 grams per tonne from a depth of down to 844 metres.
In March 2012, Singapore-listed LionGold Corp Ltd acquired a 76.22% stake in Signature Metals and has provided funding and technical expertise supporting Signature’s ongoing exploration and surface mining efforts. Options for commercially developing Konongo’s underground mining potential are also being evaluated.
LionGold Corp is Singapore’s only Main Board-listed gold company and has rapidly established itself in the global gold mining industry. Primary concessions are in Australia, Ghana and Bolivia and collectively hold 5.5 million ounces of gold resources. Future expansion will be achieved through further acquisitions and organic growth.
